# FAQ

Common questions and answers:

### Installation fails, or an error appears on launch

Try the following, in order:

1. Uninstall any LiveSync plugin previously installed on your computer — a leftover old plugin can conflict with D5 Lite — then reinstall Lite.
2. Confirm your computer meets the requirements: Windows 10 (20H2 or later), an NVIDIA RTX 20-series or newer GPU, and GPU driver 528.33 or later.
3. If it still errors on launch, make sure D5 Lite is updated to the latest version.

### The interface feels sluggish during use

Try turning off Windows "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling": open Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics → Advanced graphics settings, turn off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling," then restart D5 Lite for the change to take effect.

### SketchUp closes unexpectedly when applying a material

Some newer SketchUp versions may close unexpectedly when applying a material. In SketchUp settings, switch the graphics engine to "Classic" and try again.

### Why is my emissive material completely black?

Emissive materials are not affected by ambient light; when the emission intensity is 0, the image appears black. Set the emission intensity above 0. If you want a normal, lit material, use the General template instead.

### The Lite interface shows in English

D5 Lite offers Chinese and English. When SketchUp is set to a language other than Simplified Chinese or English, Lite displays in English.

### Some settings didn't carry over after syncing to D5 Render

Data syncs one way, from Lite to D5 Render, and a few items are not inherited — for example, the effect settings of an HDRI environment and a material's overlay color. These need to be set again in D5 Render.

### D5 Lite crashes on launch with multiple GPUs

Some computers have multiple GPUs (e.g. a laptop with an integrated GPU and a dedicated GPU). D5 Lite may fail to select the correct dedicated GPU on launch, causing a crash. Try any of the following to force the dedicated NVIDIA GPU:

* **Windows Graphics settings**: open Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics, add your modeling software (SketchUp / Rhino / Revit), click "Options," select "High performance" (the dedicated GPU), save, and restart your modeling software.
* **NVIDIA Control Panel**: open NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D settings → Program Settings, select your modeling software, set "Preferred graphics processor" to "High-performance NVIDIA processor," apply, and restart your modeling software.
* **Device Manager**: open Device Manager → Display adapters, disable all display devices other than the dedicated GPU (e.g. the integrated GPU), then restart your modeling software.
