# Dropbox Cloud Drive Project Library Setup Guide

### 1 Overview

D5 Render Team Edition supports deploying project libraries on Dropbox. With Dropbox's online storage and sharing capabilities, team members can access the project library from anywhere via the internet, no longer limited by the corporate LAN.This guide covers the complete setup process for both **Team Administrators** and **Team Members**.

> **Important**: To ensure sync efficiency and stability, projects saved to the cloud drive will have their archive format upgraded. Archives in the upgraded format cannot be opened in D5 Render versions prior to 3.1.

### 2 Team Administrator Setup

The administrator is responsible for configuring the Dropbox desktop app, creating the project library folder, sharing the library with team members, and connecting it to D5 Render.

#### 2.1 Install and Sign In to the Dropbox Desktop App

1. If the Dropbox desktop app is not yet installed on your Windows system, download and install it from the [official Dropbox download page](https://www.dropbox.com/install).
2. Sign in with your Dropbox account during the setup process.

#### 2.2 Configure the Local Sync Folder

1. Choose a local drive with sufficient free space and **manually create an empty folder** to serve as the Dropbox sync root (e.g., `D:\DropBox`).
2. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to the folder and create a new folder to store D5 projects, e.g.,`D:\Dropbox\D5Projects`
3. Right-click the folder, then click **"Dropbox"** → **"Make available offline"**. (**Important**: You must select the "Available offline" option instead of online-only sync. In offline mode, files are stored locally on your computer and synced to the cloud, ensuring that D5 Render can always access the project files.)

#### 2.3 Share the Project Library Folder with Team Members

Share the project library folder so that team members can access and edit the project files.

1. On the Dropbox website, select the project library folder (e.g., `D5Projects`).
2. Click the **gear icon** and choose **"Manage Permissions"**.
3. Add team member accounts and grant them the **"Can edit"** permission.

> **Note**: You must grant "Can edit" permission. If only view permission is granted, members will not be able to collaborate in multi-user editing.

2. In the **"Cloud Drive"** tab, click the input field next to **"Dropbox"**.
3. In the system folder selection dialog that appears, navigate to and select the project library folder created in [section 2.3](https://d5.feishu.cn/wiki/JRfow60XPiw70akueSYcABd2nAe#23-create-the-project-library-folder) (e.g., `D:\Dropbox\D5Projects`).
4. Click **Save**.

### 3 Team Member Setup

After the administrator shares the project library folder, team members need to complete the following steps.

#### 3.1 Install and Configure the Dropbox Desktop App

1. Download and install the Dropbox desktop app (same as administrator [section 2.1](https://d5.feishu.cn/wiki/JRfow60XPiw70akueSYcABd2nAe#21-install-and-sign-in-to-the-dropbox-desktop-app)).
2. Create an empty folder on a drive with sufficient free space and configure it as the local Dropbox sync folder, following administrator [section 2.2](https://d5.feishu.cn/wiki/JRfow60XPiw70akueSYcABd2nAe#22-configure-the-local-sync-folder). The member's local sync folder path may differ from the administrator's.
3. Sign in with your own Dropbox account.

#### 3.2 Accept the Shared Project Library

1. Open the project sharing email sent by the administrator.
2. Click **"Add to Dropbox"** to add the team project library to your Dropbox account.
3. Wait until the project library folder has finished syncing to your local machine before proceeding.

> **Important**: Wait until all files in the folder have finished syncing (the sync icon on files turns to a green checkmark) before proceeding.

#### 3.3 Authentication in D5 Launcher

1. You can find the team projects from the Dropbox project library under the **"Team Projects - Cloud Drive"** tab in the D5 Launcher sidebar.
2. Click **"Connect Dropbox".**
3. D5 Render will automatically open your default browser and display a Dropbox sign-in page.
4. Enter your **Dropbox account credentials** to sign in.
5. If a consent screen appears, click **"Allow"** to grant D5 Render permission to access your Dropbox data.<br>
