# Egnyte Cloud Drive Project Library Setup Guide

### 1 Overview

D5 Render Team Edition supports deploying project libraries on Egnyte Drive. By leveraging Egnyte's enterprise-grade cloud storage and collaboration capabilities, team members can access the project library from anywhere via the internet, no longer limited by the corporate LAN.This guide covers the complete setup process for both **Team Administrators** and **Team Members**.

> **Important**: To ensure sync efficiency and stability, projects saved to the cloud drive will have their archive format upgraded. Archives in the upgraded format cannot be opened in D5 Render versions prior to 3.1.

#### 1.1 Prerequisites

### 2 Team Administrator Setup

The administrator is responsible for adding team members to the Egnyte domain, creating and sharing the project library folder, and configuring D5.

#### 2.1 Create and Share Project Folder

1. Log in to the Egnyte admin portal for your domain (e.g., `https://yourdomain.egnyte.com`).
2. Navigate to **Settings → Users & Groups → Users** and verify that all team members (including the administrator) have been added.
3. Navigate to **Files**, click **Create** under the **Shared** folder, and create a new folder to serve as the D5 project library (e.g., name it `D5TeamProjects`).
4. Right-click the folder and share it with team members.

#### 2.2 Install the Egnyte Desktop App

1. Download and install the **Egnyte Desktop App for Windows** from the **Egnyte admin portal** or from the official Egnyte website.
2. During installation, **change the Data Folder location** to a drive with sufficient free space. By default, Egnyte places the sync folder in a system directory, which is **not recommended** for large project files.
3. Sign in to the Egnyte Desktop App with your Egnyte domain account.
4. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to the Egnyte Drive virtual drive (typically `Z:\`).
5. Under the **Shared** folder, right-click the newly created folder, select **Egnyte**, and enable **"Sync for offline access"**.(**Important**: This step is mandatory. If files are not synced for offline access, D5 Render will be unable to open the project correctly.)

#### 2.3 Configure the Project Library in D5 Render

1. Sign in to D5 Launcher as a D5 team administrator and navigate to the "Settings" page.
2. In the **"Cloud Drive"** tab, paste the sync folder path into the corresponding input field (e.g., `Z:\Shared\D5TeamProjects`).
3. Click **"Save"**.

### 3 Team Member Setup

After the administrator has shared the project library folder, team members need to complete the following steps.

#### 3.1 Install and Configure the Egnyte Desktop App

1. Download and install the **Egnyte Desktop App for Windows** (same as administrator).
2. During installation, **change the local sync folder location** to a drive with sufficient free space. The member's local path can differ from the administrator's.
3. Sign in with your own Egnyte account.
4. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to the Egnyte Drive virtual drive (typically `Z:\`).
5. Under the **Shared** folder, locate the project library folder shared by the administrator.
6. Right-click the folder, select **Egnyte**, and enable **"Sync for offline access"**.

> **Important**: Wait until all files in the folder have finished syncing before opening the project in D5 Render.

#### 3.2 Authentication in D5 Launcher

Once the setup is complete, you can find the team projects folder from the Egnyte project library under the **"Team Projects - Cloud Drive"** tab in the D5 Launcher. When using Egnyte with D5 for the first time, you need to authorize D5 to access your Egnyte domain.

1. Click **"Connect Egnyte"**. In the pop-up dialog, enter your Egnyte domain name (e.g., `yourdomain.egnyte.com`).
2. Click **"Go to Authorize"**. This will open your browser to complete the authorization process. Once authorization is complete, return to the Launcher to open team project library files.
