# OneDrive Cloud Drive Project Library Setup Guide

## 1 Overview

D5 Render Team Edition supports deploying project libraries on OneDrive. With OneDrive's online storage and sharing capabilities, team members can access the project library from anywhere via the internet, no longer limited by the corporate LAN.This guide covers the complete setup process for both **Team Administrators** and **Team Members**.

> **Important**: To ensure sync efficiency and stability, projects saved to the cloud drive will have their archive format upgraded. Archives in the upgraded format cannot be opened in D5 Render versions prior to 3.1.

### 2 Team Administrator Setup

The administrator is responsible for creating the project library folder, configuring D5 Render, and sharing the library with team members.

#### 2.1 Install and Sign In to the OneDrive Desktop App

1. If the OneDrive desktop app is not yet installed on your Windows system, download and install it from the [official OneDrive download page](https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/onedrive/download).
2. During installation, **make sure to change the local sync folder location** to a drive with ample free space. By default, OneDrive places the sync folder in the system drive (C:\\) user directory, which can quickly run out of space with large project files.
3. Once installation is complete, sign in to OneDrive with your Microsoft account.

#### 2.2 Create the Project Library Folder

1. In the OneDrive desktop app, click **"Open Folder"** to open your local OneDrive sync folder in File Explorer.
2. Inside the sync folder, **manually create a new empty folder** to serve as the team project library (e.g., name it `D5TeamProjects`).
3. In File Explorer, **right-click** the newly created project library folder.
4. Select **"Always keep on this device"** from the context menu.(**Important**: This step is mandatory. If files are set to "Online-only" (cloud icon) by OneDrive, D5 Render will be unable to open the project.)
5. Right-click the folder and select "Copy file address", or open the folder and check the full path in the address bar at the top (e.g., `D:\OneDrive\D5TeamProjects`). You will need this path when configuring D5.

#### 2.3 Share the Project Library Folder with Team Members

Share the project library folder so that team members can access and edit the project files.

1. Right-click the project library folder created in the previous step and select "Share".
2. In the pop-up window, set the sharing permission to **"Can edit"**.(**Note**: You must grant "Can edit" permission. If only "Can view" permission is granted, members will not be able to collaborate in multi-user editing.)
3. Choose a method to share the OneDrive folder with team members (enter email addresses, send invitation emails, or share a link).

#### 2.4 Configure the Project Library in D5 Launcher

1. Sign in to D5 Launcher as a D5 team administrator and navigate to the "Settings" page.
2. In the **"Cloud Drive"** tab, paste the OneDrive folder path from step 2 into the corresponding input field.
3. Click Save.

After receiving the sharing invitation from the administrator, team members need to complete the following steps.

#### 3.1 Install and Configure the OneDrive Desktop App

1. Download and install the OneDrive desktop app (same as administrator).
2. During installation, **change the local sync folder location** to a drive with ample free space. The member's local path can differ from the administrator's.
3. Sign in with your own Microsoft account.

#### 3.2 Sync the Project Library Folder to Your Local Machine

1. Open [OneDrive Web](https://onedrive.live.com) and sign in to your account.
2. In the left navigation panel, click **"Shared"** and locate the team project library folder shared by the administrator.
3. Right-click the folder and select **"Add shortcut to 'My files'"**.
4. On your local machine, find the folder in the OneDrive sync folder and select **"Always keep on this device"** from the right-click context menu.(**Important**: Wait until all files in the folder have finished syncing (the sync icon on files turns to a green checkmark) before proceeding.)

#### 3.3 Authentication in D5 Launcher (skip this step if already authorized)

1. you can find the team projects from the OneDrive project library under the "Team Projects - Cloud Drive" tab in the D5 Launcher sidebar.
2. Click **"Connect OneDrive".**
3. D5 Render will automatically open your default browser and display a Microsoft sign-in page.
4. Enter your **Microsoft account credentials** to sign in.
5. If a consent screen appears, click **"Accept"** or **"Allow"** to complete the authorization.
