Once completing the primary modeling process, you can assess the structure's look with its materials accurately shown, which assists in decision making.
With the livesync plugin enabled, material adjustments in DCC software are updated to D5 in real time. To make things easier, try using different colors to identify each material in DCC software. This way, you can effortlessly assign them distinct textures in D5 Render.
In D5 Render, press the shortcut key “I” to activate the material editing panel.
D5 Render has some great options for material creation.
Method 1: Completed Materials from D5 Material Library
Click the “Assets” button on the top toolbar to open D5 Asset Library.
If you focus on experimenting with various materials to find the optimal one, D5 Material Library, which has over 2,000 top-notch materials, is a no-brainer choice for you.
Double-click on your desired materials to download them. Then, click on the material thumbnail once more to apply it to the model surface.
Method 2: AI Material Creation Workflow
If you're seeking greater material creation flexibility without compromising on ease and efficiency, our AI material tools are exactly what you need. Just prepare a base color map, and D5 will take care of the rest for you.
Take this map as an example.
- AI Make Seamless
First, use Make Seamless to remove seams in your base color map.
- Ultra HD Texture
Next, use the Ultra HD Texture option to improve the map’s resolution and remove noises.
- AI-generated Material Texture Maps
Then, use AI to auto generate Normal, Roughness, and AO maps for the base color map.
Now, the base color map has turned into a high-quality wood material.
Method 3: Customizable Material Templates
Watch this tutorial to learn more about D5’s material templates: Discover the fun of real-time PBR material rendering at D5 Material Museum!
If you are a visualization expert who prefers to craft your materials from the ground up, our material template system is perfect for you.
It comes with 11 commonly used templates plus a customizable option, giving you all the flexibility you need.
Each template has several maps for you to tweak and achieve realistic results. We’ll demonstrate how to create a walkway material.
- Base color or base color map
They define the main color and pattern of your material.
- Normal map
If the material looks flat-out smooth, try adding a normal map which can enhance the gaps to create an uneven surface.
- Specular
It makes the material glossy to better catch and reflect light. If you need to create materials like mirrors, increasing this parameter value is a good choice.
- Roughness
It decides how matte the material looks.
- AO
An AO map can enhance depth and shadows.
- Material UV
Simply put, the larger the UV stretch value, the more repetitions of the texture pattern per unit area, making the pattern appear denser.
We won’t explain all the material settings here, but you can watch this video to learn more: Discover the fun of real-time PBR material rendering at D5 Material Museum!
After completing the steps we just introduced, you will get the effect as shown in the following image:
